A little about the Peshtemal
A Short Story
Peshtemal, Turkish, Fouta or Hamam towel. They are a unique towel which is mostly associated with Turkish Spas.
The Peshtemal is originally from the Ottoman Empire, the towel is crafted from Turkish cotton, the fibres in this cotton are considerably longer than most other types of cotton. The Peshtemal is unique because of its lightweight tightly
woven cotton, it is light and easy to travel with also very versatile as it can be used as a sarong, in your bathroom, pools, beaches, spa days you can even use them on your picnic days or even camping holidays. These towels are very durable because of the cotton fibres used in Peshtemal it gets softer and more absorbent with each wash. Wondering why to choose a Peshtemal towel, unlike regular towels these can be used for years treated correctly. The difference is they have quicker drying properties this also makes the cloth resist bacteria. The cloth does not prevent air from flowing through so is not affected by the air moisture, which in turn helps the Peshtemal to not decay so easily and to help it stay fresh smelling, pushing water off your skin instead of soaking into the towel leaving it wet and heavy. The only thing is they are not fluffy like a regular towel but I think a small price to pay for all the good things a Peshtemal can offer.
